Kathmandu will be witnessing its second Barcamp on August 28th this year. A Barcamp is an open environment where people can share new ideas. Is is often called an 'unconference' due to its ad-hoc nature and its unplanned structure. Nonetheless its a very productive and wonderful event. 

Last year the very first Barcamp was held on August 0f 2009. YIPL was one of the sponsors of the event. Some of our colleagues gave presentations as well. Our CEO Mr. Bibhusan Bista gave a session titled "Collaboration amongst Nepalese IT companies/entrepreneurs for creating a strong IT industry in Nepal" followed by a session by our another colleague Rabindra Gurung who gave a  session titled "BCC - Behavioural Change Communication in Nepal". Overall it was a very fruitful event and an initiation of a new Barcamp culture in Nepal.

This year too YIPL will be there to support this event. Besides monetary support we are also providing other types of support. We are providing servers to host the Barcamp website (http://www.barcamp.org.np) , We have also provided our technical expertise in the building of the new barcamp website. The new barcamp website (http://www.barcamp.com.np) is built using drupal. We also provided design for the website. The website itself is quite interactive, users can register as an attendee and then add session or pick the session that they want to attend and they can have discussions as well. Its a very community focused website.

The theme for this year's Barcamp is "Knitting Innovators". Like last year we will be presenting some interesting sessions this year as well. The one I am really interested is the session by our very own Bibek Shrestha the title is yet to be finalized.

We at YIPL are always eager to promote innovative concepts and Barcamp is one of them. We hope to partner with them in future Barcamps as well.  We are eagerly waiting for the event .
