Second demo Toastmasters meet - Who Dares, Wins!!!

In the first meet the cocoons opened up whereas yesterday in the second meet the butterflies fluttered around with joy, enthusiasm and confidence. The second demo toastmasters meet, was a great success having a very lively environment and eager audience.

Anjan, as the toastmaster of the day, set the floor open with the beautiful theme for the day "Who Dares, Wins!". Then I led to pray to the almighty to bless the meeting and spread a positive vibe within. Then, Bimal, the grammarian, gave the word and phrase:

Embark: To go aboard a vessel or aircraft, as at the start of a journey, To set out on a venture
Shot  in the arm: Something that boosts one's spirits

After which the prepared speeches began. Diwaker was on his project one started his speech on a humorous note saying his speech was about his partial life as its not complete yet. We were all glad to know more about Diwaker. Hadn't he nominated to speak yesterday, there would have been very few of us who would know, how a movie A Beautiful Mind inspired him to learn, go on a google search spree and ultimately lead to become an obsessive learner. I evaluated him and found that his speech was very well structured with smooth transitions between the opening, body and closing.

Next prepared speaker was Bhabishyat, also on this project one. Now we know more about him as well. He told us about his life beginning from his school days to college days and his stint at YIPL. He also narrated few incidents that tickled our funny bones. Prashant very well evaluated him, carefully noting his gestures and tone. Bhabishyat was the best speaker of the meet. Congratulations!!

Anjesh, the jolly person, brought interesting topics on table. As we are almost at the end of the year and soon will begin a new year, the topics were based on self evaluation of past year and forsight of the coming year. Prawesh Rajkarnikar, Bimal, Prashant and Abhinav volunteered for the table topics and I am sure everyone enjoyed every bit of it. Bimal was the best table topics speaker.

After the table topics session, it was the session of evaluation. Prawesh Shrestha did his job very meticulously as a general evaluator though it was his first time. Aah counter, Rohan did not spare a single aah or pause. Hats off to his patience. Time Keeper, Punya did his job very well too. After the elaborate grammarian report from Bimal, the GE presented his thoughts about the meet. Anjan was at his best and added awesomeness in the meet. The meeting then adjourned after the national anthem. We sang the national anthem long with the music players in Anjesh laptop. :)

Congratulations to Diwaker and Bhabishyat for their embark on Toastmasters journey. You have many more steps to take. Keep going. Congratulations to everyone. Keep up the spirit, we have a long way to go. Our aim is to register the club. In our next meeting, each one should call one which means everyone is suppose to call a friend along.

Note: Few things that I noticed in yesterdays meeting are, there was a lot of movement in and out the meeting room during the speech. This really distracts the speaker and its not a good practice. So i request everyone to refrain from moving during the speeches. One can move in and out of the meeting room between the speeches and not during the speech. Also, lets make it as a practice to keep our mobile phones on silent as the meeting begins. This distracts the speaker as well.
