We are looking for an experienced Senior Backend Developer (Laravel) to lead the development of scalable, secure, and high-performance web applications. In this role, you will design backend architectures, build robust APIs, optimize system performance, and collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to deliver meaningful, real-world solutions.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Develop, test, and maintain large-scale web applications using Laravel and PHP
Lead backend architecture and technical design with a focus on scalability, performance, and maintainability
Design, develop, and maintain RESTful APIs and third-party integrations
Ensure applications meet high standards of security, data protection, and compliance
Optimize application performance, database queries, and background job processing
Identify project risks and clearly communicate expectations to team members and management
Enforce coding standards through structured code reviews
Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues in development and production environments
Communicate proactively with clients regarding project status and progress
Stay updated with industry trends to inform technical and strategic decisions

REQUIREMENTS

4-5 years of experience as a Backend Developer, with strong hands-on expertise in Laravel
Proven experience in software architecture design
Advanced proficiency in PHP (modern versions) and solid understanding of object-oriented programming principles
Proficient in vanilla JavaScript and experience in at least one of the JavaScript frameworks like React, Angular, Vue.js
Strong experience with relational databases (MySQL, PostgreSQL) including schema design and query optimization
Knowledge of RESTful services
Working knowledge of git and its branching models
Experienced in code reviews
Experience with testing frameworks (PHPUnit, Pest) and writing automated tests
Good understanding of coding standards such as PSR
Working knowledge of linux system and server administration
Experience in deploying applications to the server
Experience working in agile environment and scrum/kanban teams
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to analyze quantitatively, scope technical requirements and prioritize deliverables
A strong self-manager, very well-organized, with excellent time-management skills
Excellent communication skills, with a focus on clear and proactive communication
Excellent spoken and written English skills

NICE TO HAVES

Experience with Node.js for building microservices, real-time features, or supporting services alongside Laravel applications
Experience with Docker and containerized application deployments
Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud), especially in enterprise or government environments
Experience with CI/CD pipelines and automated deployment workflows
Familiarity with microservices or service-oriented architectures
