Building Skjutsgruppen’s Ride-Sharing App for Sweden
Skjutsgruppen, a growing ride-sharing movement in Sweden, was helping people coordinate shared rides with the goal of reducing environmental impact and promoting community-driven travel. But despite its expanding community, the initiative operated entirely through manual coordination on Facebook and SMS, which made it difficult to scale, search for rides, or communicate effectively. Without a mobile application, organizing and discovering rides was inefficient and fragmented, especially on the go. They needed a solution that could translate their grassroots energy into a scalable and user-friendly digital experience.
We partnered with Skjutsgruppen to bring their platform to life as a dedicated mobile app making it easier than ever for community members to share rides and coordinate journeys. Working closely with the client-provided design assets, we developed native applications for both Android and iOS, transforming their analog system into a seamless digital experience.
The app allowed users to create ride announcements, search for available rides, and connect with others all within a few taps. It also ensured that the community values of sustainability, openness, and fair cost-sharing (fuel-only, no profit) were embedded into the platform's core functionality. With intuitive UX and strong performance, the mobile app helped scale Skjutsgruppen’s mission of shared, eco-friendly mobility across Sweden.
