Transforming higher education in Nepal

THE CHALLENGE

BUCSBIN (Building University Capacity to Support Business Incubation in Nepal) was a highly ambitious, multi-year partnership between universities in Nepal and Finland, aimed at transforming higher education by embedding entrepreneurial, design-driven, and lab-based pedagogies into academic institutions. While the project’s educational goals were well-defined, the initiative initially lacked a unified visual identity, strategic communication framework, and digital platform capable of representing its evolving scope and impact.

As a multi-stakeholder collaboration involving HEIs, non-profits, startups, and local governments, BUCSBIN required strong and consistent brand storytelling across a wide range of touchpoints: workshops, symposiums, student labs, curriculum development, and international forums. Additionally, it needed a way to document and showcase progress, methodologies, and learnings, both for internal continuity and external visibility. This challenge was amplified by the pandemic, which demanded a fast pivot to online engagement without sacrificing the collaborative and experiential nature of the program.

THE SOLUTION

As a strategic partner, we worked across multiple dimensions of the BUCSBIN initiative from shaping early communication strategy to creating a cohesive visual identity and designing its public-facing digital presence.

We led the development of the BUCSBIN brand identity, including its logo, design language, typography, and colors, crafted to reflect the program’s values of innovation, inclusivity, and co-creation. We developed a wide range of communication materials such as pitch decks, templates, reports, and event assets to ensure brand consistency and clarity across diverse partners and activities.

We also designed and developed the BUCSBIN website (bucsbin.org) to serve as a living archive of the initiative, featuring program details, partner activities, blogs, videos, and resources. The site was built to communicate with audiences as diverse as students, policy makers, funders, and international collaborators. We complemented this with short-form videos and documentation that highlighted key milestones, participant reflections, and the broader impact of the Lab Studio Model adopted across King’s College, KUSOM, Idea Studio, and beyond.

Through our involvement, BUCSBIN was able to clearly articulate its story, demonstrate its results, and position itself globally as an innovative, human-centered model for entrepreneurship and higher education reform, culminating in its recognition by the World Bank’s Solutions for Youth Employment (S4YE) Impact Portfolio.
