THE CHALLENGE
The extractives sector—covering oil, gas, and mining—generates vast amounts of financial data, especially around payments made by companies to governments. However, much of this data is often presented in raw or fragmented formats, making it difficult for researchers, journalists, and policymakers to extract meaningful insights.
Resource Projects aimed to make this information more transparent and accessible by creating a centralized portal for visualizing payment data. The key challenge was to design a platform that could present complex datasets in a simple, intuitive, and user-friendly way, while also enabling advanced users to download and analyze the data in detail.
THE SOLUTION
We designed and developed a web-based Data Visualization Portal for Resource Projects that transforms complex payment data into digestible and interactive insights.
Our solution included a clean and intuitive user interface featuring dynamic graphs, charts, and tabular views that allow users to filter and explore data by country, company, project, and payment type. We also integrated download functionalities that enable users to export the data in multiple formats for further research and analysis.
By prioritizing usability and clarity, the platform empowers a wide range of stakeholders—from researchers and civil society organizations to policymakers and journalists—to better understand the financial flows in the extractives sector, promote accountability, and support evidence-based advocacy.
